About The Viera Company
Viera consists of approximately 22,000 acres of land straddling I-95 in central Brevard County. Bordered by Fiske Boulevard on the north and the planned Pineda Extension on the south, the property is already home to numerous residential neighborhoods, a regional park, a regional shopping center, the Brevard County Government Center, two hospitals, a stadium, churches, schools and golf courses. Viera currently has approximately 17,000 residents. The 44,000-acre River Lakes Conservation Area, part of which was purchased by the St. Johns River Water Management District from the Duda family in 1999, borders Viera on the west.
In May 2005, The Viera Company announced they would begin planning for future development of their remaining 12,000 acres on the west side of I-95 (see Florida Today article). The planning process will include an effort to reach out to the community to share information about future plans and hear the community’s views.
The Duda family has strong ties with the Florida community and has been in Brevard since the 1940s. Family members serve on The Viera Company's Board and will continue to play an active role in the community. Consequently, they have a strong interest in creating a special plan for the property that the surrounding community can embrace and that preserves the wonderful heritage of Viera. |
