Community Involvement
The DUDA Company, The Viera Company staff and the other members
of the planning team are committed to a planning process that involves
local citizens. To
assist them in the planning process, they formed a Community Advisory Panel. The Community Advisory Panel consists of 25 citizens who are active in the community and knowledgeable
about community issues. They met three times over the period from
June to October 2005, providing suggestions and comments on the
plan being prepared by the planning
team.
In addition to the Community Advisory Panel, outreach efforts have included presentations
to neighborhood and civic groups, this web site, and open houses. The first
open house, held July 12th, 2005, introduced the development proposal to the community.
Members of the planning team were there to answer questions and
hear the public’s
views. The second open house was held after the planning team
had made substantial progress in developing the plan. At that time,
the public could see what the team had developed, provide feedback,
and suggest refinements.
The third open house in September, 2007, provided an overview of the plan for West Viera.

This web site will provide an opportunity for interested citizens
to track the progress of the planning and outreach effort as well
as share their thoughts and offer input. For example, summaries of
each Community Advisory Panel meeting are posted here:
