Current Levels of Development
Development has proceeded gradually over the years, so that today Viera is a community of approximately 17,000 residents. Viera is home to 49 single-family residential neighborhoods and four multi-family complexes.
According to recent counts, in Viera East there are 87 businesses, including financial services, health care (including the Wuesthoff medical complex), other professional services and retail establishments, the Viera East Golf Club and the Brevard Zoo, generating employment for almost 2,500 people. Two churches and one elementary school are also located in Viera East.
Central Viera includes:

• West Precinct for the Brevard County Sheriff’s office
• Shoppes at Lake Andrew
• The Avenue shopping center and other retail establishments

• Duran Golf Club (18 hole course and clubhouse)
• Duran Development Center (teaching facility, driving range, Par 3 course)
• Viera Regional Park
• VA Clinic
• Five religious institutions
• Wal-Mart
• Target

Coming soon is Viera Health Park, under development by Health First, Inc. The new Health Park is expected to provide employment for 2,000 people. Employment at Central Viera’s 82 businesses, not including The Avenue shops, Wal-Mart or Target, totals nearly 2,600 people. There are approximately 2,500 acres within central Viera DRI remaining undeveloped.
