Accommodating Growth – Roadway Improvements
The Viera Company recognizes its responsibility to work with the County, neighboring municipalities and area agencies to identify roadway issues of mutual importance to provide transportation solutions that serve the County, Viera residents and those motorists passing through.
The Viera Company has already funded, at no cost to taxpayers, major roadway construction to improve traffic flow on the following roadways in and around Viera:
• Stadium Pkwy.
• Viera Blvd. Overpass and Extension
• Lake Andrew Dr.
West Viera is planned in a manner that reduces the need for long commutes, provides multiple transportation options and offers safe, pedestrian-oriented streets. The community is designed to allow residents to work, shop, and meet their daily needs without using roads outside of Viera.
As part of the proposed West Viera expansion plans, The Viera Company has committed to the construction of all roads within the community as well as the following improvements to the existing regional roadway network at an estimated cost of over $50 million:
• Wickham Rd. – widening from Lake Andrew to Murrell Rd., and several improvements to intersections at Baytree, Lake Washington, Aurora Rd. and Pineda Cswy.
• Viera Blvd.– widening from Viera’s eastern boundary to US-1
• Murrell Rd. and Barnes Blvd. Intersection – addition of left turn lanes for east, west and southbound traffic
• Fiske Blvd. – widening from Viera boundary to Barnes Blvd.
• Washingtonia Extension – a new regional north/south road to parallel
I-95 – purchase of right-of-way from Pineda Cswy. to Ellis Rd. and
construction of two-lane road from Pineda Cswy. to Eau Gallie Blvd.

Pineda Interchange Update
The Pineda Interchange is now included in the Florida Department of Transportation’s 2007-2011 Five Year Work Program, with work slated to commence in 2008 as part of the widening of I-95 through Brevard County. For its part, The Viera Company has agreed to donate over 113 acres for public road right-of-way and contribute almost $6.8 million in connection with the Pineda Interchange and the Pineda Causeway extension.
The Pineda Interchange is the result of a public/private “partnership” between the Florida Department of Transportation, Brevard County and The Viera Company. Over the span of more than 11 years, this partnership arose through the concerted efforts of concerned citizens and political leaders to make this vital road improvement a reality. Constructed in conjunction with the extension of the Pineda Causeway, the Pineda Interchange will substantially improve central Brevard County’s road network by directly linking S.R. A1A, US-1 and I-95.

• On Tuesday, July 17, 2007, The Viera Company will hold an Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. to discuss Viera East developments, including plans for the former Kash ‘n Karry store, and progress on the Viera Blvd. overpass. The event will be held at Williams Elementary located at 1700 Clubhouse Drive in Viera.
• Viera started July off with a bang this past Saturday at the 13th Annual Great American Celebration at Space Coast Stadium. Neighbors and visitors of all ages enjoyed a great game of baseball between the Brevard Manatees and Palm Beach Cardinals and an exciting display of fireworks to celebrate our nation’s independence.
